IRC
phpGroupWare users and developers hang out on #phpGroupWare on irc.gnu.org (aka freenode.net).
Guidelines
Due to the overwhelming popularity of phpGroupWare and the demands on our developers we have had to set up these guidelines, please read and observe them.
- Your ideas are welcome, and needed to improve the project.
Please post them on our Support Management Tool as a "Feature Request" on savannah. Please read the feature request guidelines before posting. - The developers are very busy. Please respect their desire to improve our code base, and the time it will take to do that. If they request that you find someone else to help, then listen.
- If you feel like you are hogging up the time of a developer - then you probably are. Try and wrap things up, unless the developer wants to hang out and take a break from the code.
- If you know how to do something that someone else is asking. Then help them. Don't leave it to one development team to answer a question that you are you know the answer to.
- If no one replies after a while then post your question or comment on the appropriate mailing list.
- If you like the project. Contribute. If your not a developer, then help out with documentation or helping other irc users. Donations of money or goods are also appreciated. To contribute please read our contributors doc.
- This channel is for phpGroupWare, if you need help with PHP itself, please try another #php or do some googling. We would like to help, but we have enough to do without providing off topic support. If the issues pretain to phpGroupWare, its acceptable. eg, phpGroupWare not working on Windows or a certain version of PHP.
- Ask good questions. Not sure what a good question is?, then learn about good questions.
What all these guidelines come down to is that if the developers are tied up answering user questions all day, the project will not continue to improve. So lets make sure that it can continue improving for everyones benefit.
